San Juan Montessori

San Juan Montessori has been dedicated to fostering children’s innate love of learning since 1998. Here the children develop their abilities and pursue academic excellence. We have classes for children three to six years of age. San Juan Montessori has a stable and experience teaching staff dedicated to nurturing and guiding the children using the well-defined Montessori curriculum, and the beautifully crafted Montessori hands-on materials to encourage individual and cooperative skills in all academic areas. The staff and parents help the children become responsible citizens in an environment of mutual respect.

Our Philosophy and Goals

The philosophy of San Juan Montessori is inspired by the educational thoughts of Dr. Maria Montessori who created the models for the classrooms and for the developmental learning materials. Like Dr. Montessori, we recognize that education requires an ethical environment in which the values of the community are respected and the worth of the individual protected.

San Juan Montessori offers an individualized academic program, which promotes independence and unsurpassed scholastic achievement. We see in each child, the future of society, of our nation, and of our planet. The child process of fundamental development has unlimited possibilities and the future rests on our ability to cultivate this potential. It is our belief that each child is a unique individual with his own special needs and background, and should be recognized as someone special. In order for the child to grow and learn, he must first feel safe, accepted, and competent in an environment that is encouraging, nurturing, supportive, and challenging.

As Montessori educators, we believe that each child is born to be a learner and that the full potential of each child is realized only through an ordered, challenging, nurturing environment that is physical, intellectual, and social. All members of the staff are dedicated to the Montessori approach to education and life, which respects each child’s self-concept and developmental needs. The staff at San Juan Montessori are experienced and credentialed Montessori trained teachers.

We believe that the child and his needs are a central and commanding focus of the learning process. It is the role of the school to observe, to know, and to defend the child as he proceeds through the stages of development.

Our Community

The Children
San Juan Montessori is dedicated to cultivating each child's natural desire to learn and helping all children reach their full potential. Our safe and supportive environment allows each child the freedom to develop at his or her own pace. Children are encouraged to respect others as well as themselves, and in the process, develop a strong inner discipline and sense of self-worth.

 
The Staff
Our dedicated and professional staff is very important to us at San Juan Montessori, for they provide the loving environment for your child on a day-to-day basis. The school facilitates staff growth and development by providing in-house training as well as opportunities to participate in Montessori and early-childhood professional conferences and workshops.

 
The Parents
At SJM we provide children with the best possible environment in which to spend their days, and we strive to be partners with you in educating your child. At SJM we also host social events for our Montessori throughout the year, creating opportunities for families to get to know each other on an informal basis.

Parent Education/Parent Participation
At San Juan Montessori we consider parents an integral part of the school community. Parents are the first and primary teachers of their children, and when parents and the school work in partnership, benefits for the children are greatly enhanced. In addition, parents also share in the school life of their child by attending parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and field trips. Classroom observations and discussions with teachers further advise parents about their child's experience at school. Parents also enjoy attending regular social functions throughout the year.
